M-Ants! Giant PEZ! Wasps! The first trailer for Ant-Man & The Wasp is here
Look, it's easy to get jaded with any genre of film. If a simple formula is adhered to stringently every single time with no creative individuality, audiences will eventually get sick of that genre. And that's the genius of Kevin Feige's Marvel Studious. Allowing personal creative visions to shine through has allowed them to create a wildly successful cinematic universe while also keeping their Box-Office astronomically high. Ant-Man was such a pleasure due to director Peyton Reed keeping things small-scale, the perfect antidote to the colossal worldwide stakes of the Avengers films.
And today we get the first look at Reed's sequel, Ant-Man & the Wasp. Returning are Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Pena. Joining the gang this time are Walton Goggins, Laurence Fishburne and Michelle Pfeiffer. Check out the trailer below.
What do we think? It's a pretty introductory trailer and it seems to primarily be highlighting the Wasp but there are some really cool stuff to take away here. Lilly looks kick-ass as the Wasp. Fishburne makes his Marvel debut and that gag with Hank Pym shrinking the building? Genius.
Ant-Man & the Wasp opens in Ireland and the UK August 3rd.
