Holy S**t: Here's our first look at Laurie Strode in Halloween '18

It's special that the first news I get to deliver on here is the return of Laurie Strode. John Carpenter's Halloween, my favourite film of all time, is a classic, both within and outside of the horror genre. That film, so perfect in itself, went on to spawn nine sequels, including a Myers-less Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), a cult-driven Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995), a remake by Rob Zombie and a much maligned sequel to that remake. The sequels themselves range from great (II, III) to woeful (Resurrection, Halloween II '09) but the original can never be topped.

But that hasn't stopped the horror community from collectively buzzing with excitement over the news that Danny McBride and David Gordon Green were teaming up to write and direct the new entry into the franchise. On top of that, the original's director, John Carpenter would return to score the film and the leads, Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle would return as their characters, Laurie and the Shape himself, Michael Myers.

And so it's almost serendipitous that I get to kick off this site with the first image of Jamie Lee back as the original Final Girl, Laurie Strode. The photo doesn't give us much to go on, beyond evidence the film is shooting and Curtis seems excited to be back in Haddonfield. Check it out below!

That image comes courtesy of Curtis' Twitter, found here. It's cool to note the original clapperboard too in Green's hand. I'm not sure about you guys, but I'm seriously anticipating this one.

Halloween opens in the UK, US & Ireland October 19th, 2018.
